Main Comparison
| Modality | UK private price | Patient position | Imaging / image assembly | Radiation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EOS - Full Body Scan | £1,200 Confirmed | Standing and weight-bearing | 2 continuous frontal and lateral views, captured together; no stitching. | Low-dose X-ray |
| Conventional X-ray - Full Body Scan | £600-£1,200 Estimated | Standing or lying down | Multiple frontal and lateral exposures may be needed. Digital stitching depends on equipment. | Varies; often higher than EOS for the same anatomy |
| CT - Full Body Scan | £2,000-£4,000 Estimated | Usually lying down | Multiple cross-sectional X-ray slices, with optional 3D reconstruction. | Higher ionising dose than comparable EOS imaging |
| MRI - Full Body Scan | £3,500-£6,000 Estimated | Usually lying down | Multiple sequences covering the required anatomical regions. | No ionising radiation |

What Each Modality Can Assess
The examinations have different purposes. Price alone does not determine clinical suitability.
| Clinical feature | EOS | Conventional X-ray | CT | MRI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standing assessment of skeletal alignment | Yes | Possible with standing views | Not routine | Not routine |
| Spine, pelvis and legs assessed together | Yes | Multiple views / protocol | With suitable protocol | With suitable protocol |
| Simultaneous continuous front and side views | Yes | No | Not projection imaging | Not projection imaging |
| 3D skeletal reconstructions | Selected structures | Not routine | Yes | Possible |
| Detailed discs and nerve assessment | No | No | Limited | Excellent |
| Leg length and joint axis measurements | Yes | Yes, selected views | Possible | Possible |
What “full body” means
ScanAlign EOS is a standing skeletal-alignment examination focused on the spine, pelvis and lower limbs. It is not an MRI or CT equivalent for organs, nerves or soft tissues.
Why the other prices are estimates
UK providers commonly price MRI, CT and X-ray by region. Full coverage including arms, hands and feet may require bespoke protocols and quotes.
