Pregnancy
Due to the (albeit very low) x-ray radiation used to produce EOS images, we cannot go ahead with the scan if you are pregnant or unsure of pregnancy status. Please return to us for the scan once you are certain of not being pregnant.
At ScanAlign, we made a promise to you that we would only go ahead with the full-body EOS scan if you are eligible, and that the scan was right for you.
It is for this reason you have been directed by our team to this page.
Below are listed some of the reasons why you may not have been eligible for the scan. Some things are temporary restrictions, and for others you may need to ask your doctor to refer you for a scan.
Please see the list below to understand how to have the scan if you are still interested.

We can only scan you using the self-referral pathway if your injury/pain is less than three months old. According to current medical practice, injury is considered acute (new) if it is less than three months old.
As EOS Imaging is more specific in uncovering root causes of chronic pain, it wouldn’t be ethically correct to suggest EOS when another modality may better answer the reason behind a very recent injury. Please revisit us if your pain becomes chronic.
Due to the nature of this scan, we are legally duty-bound to ensure that younger patients fully understand the reasons for needing it. We therefore set an age restriction for our self-referral pathway.
You may still be eligible by being referred through one of our doctors. Please contact us to find your local EOS scan referring doctor.
Our scanner has some limitations. If you’re taller than 190 cm (6 ft 3 in) and your weight is more than 300 kg (47 st), we can still perform the scan; however 3D reconstructions may not be included as the software will limit us. Your scan will still be reported by a consultant Radiologist.
If you answered “yes” to any red-flag questions, we can’t proceed with the scan under the self-referral pathway. We must ensure you’re referred for the correct scan and that another imaging modality isn’t more appropriate for your current condition.
